Booth Architecture by Richard Meier
Kabinett: Richard Meier: 50 Years of Collage
Galerie Gmurzynska is pleased to announce that legendary Pritzker Prize winning architect, Richard Meier, will design the architecture of our exhibition at Art Basel in Miami Beach 2013. Known for his continuous reinvention of early modernist ideas, Meier has created the most significant cultural buildings of our time, chiefly the Getty Center, Los Angeles; the High Museum of Art, Atlanta and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona.
Within this booth will be a Kabinett exhibition of the collage work of Richard Meier. Created consistently during the past five decades of his life these collages form the private opposite to his public architectural commissions. A recently completed publication on his collage work will be accompanying this exhibition.
Scott Campbell will present a selected exhibition of his most recent work within a defined area of the Richard Meier designed space. Continuing from his now iconic reliefs made from
circulated and uncirculated US currency, Campbell will premiere a series of large-scale watercolors of the US one dollar bill, which have been altered with linguistic plays.
The booth will also feature a selection of Modern and Contemporary masterpieces, including works by Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon and Robert Indiana.
