Jean ‘Johnny’ Pigozzi is a notable photographer, fashion designer, and art collector, who has amassed the most important collection of contemporary African art in the world. His diaristic photographic snapshots of high society life have had him crowned by Vanity Fair as the king of the celebrity selfie. His Leica camera records his encounters, parties and exploits with artists and celebrities as a method of engaging and reflecting on his world with a sense of honesty and buzz. His first solo exhibition was at the Musée d’art moderne, Paris in 1974, and has since been exhibited at museums such as the International Center of Photography, New York and the Baker Museum, Naples.
