Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at Galerie Gmurzynska Zurich, the volume brings together many highlights spanning the artist’s trailblazing career, from early paintings and works on paper to his iconic sculptures, enriched with rare documentary material and photos from Mel and Leta Ramos Family Foundation.
The publication includes an essay by renowned pop art scholar Marco Livingstone and a 2016 interview with Mel Ramos, Mathias Rastorfer, and George Hamilton, as well as Ramos' never-before-published “A Self Interview” from 1969 and an introduction by Lucas Bscher, curator of the exhibition. Archival materials abound through the catalogue and include never-before-published photographs of figures such as Wayne Thiebaud, Tom Wesselmann and Gina Lollobrigida.
